TicketCo enters the Irish sports market with Cork City FC
League of Ireland First Division football club Cork City FC have agreed a multi-year partnership with TicketCo to provide fans with easy-to-use cashless ticketing.
The agreement breaks new ground for the cloud-based event payments company, with the supporter owned club becoming its first Irish-based sports club partner. Cork City FC appointed TicketCo to simplify its supporters’ ticket purchasing journey, improve their match-day experience and to help the club develop commercially.
It is the first step on the club’s journey towards developing cashless payment solutions at the 7,485 capacity Turners Cross Stadium. Fans will receive a QR code direct to their smartphone once a ticket has been purchased, the code can then be scanned at turnstiles by stewards. TicketCo’s mobile technology is compatible with all Android and iOS devices.
Éanna Buckley, Chief Operating Officer at Cork City FC, said: “It’s an exciting time to be at Cork City FC. There are new beginnings, new challenges and fresh opportunities with the goal being to win promotion back into the Premier Division.
“It’s essential to work with a reliable and trustworthy partner so our turnstiles operate smoothly. Our partnership with TicketCo will help ensure fans’ matchday experience is positive from the minute they purchase a ticket to when they leave the stadium.
“As a supporter-owned club navigating a global pandemic, it’s been a difficult period. But there is real excitement for the 2022 season, and we’re pleased to be working with TicketCo by becoming the first Irish-based club to use their technology.”
TicketCo’s platform is designed to make event payments quick and easy for both organisers and consumers, thanks to its pioneering technology. It also offers pay-per-view live streaming and video on demand functionality.
Alex Eagle, Partner Key Account Manager at TicketCo, said: “This is another landmark moment for TicketCo as we enter the Irish sports market. It’s great to partner with such an ambitious football club that is committed to embracing technology to improve its fan experience and club operations. We’re looking forward to working with Cork City FC.”
