Ashton Town turn to cashless ticketing by signing multi-year TicketCo partnership

by | Sep 13, 2021

North West Counties football club Ashton Town has signed a multi-year agreement with TicketCo to provide supporters with simplistic and easy-to-use cashless ticketing.

Based in Greater Manchester it is the latest non-league club to revolutionise how supporters purchase matchday tickets by encouraging fans to visit the club’s new online hub.

Simple ticketing

TicketCo’s website and mobile app enables fans to purchase tickets whenever and wherever they wish. Ticketholders are sent QR codes which can be downloaded onto a digital device or printed at home before being scanned by stewards to gain entry to a match.

The technology is proven to cut down on queues outside turnstiles on matchdays and helps clubs dispose of outdated ticket office requirements such as printing and postage and utilise people in more effective ways.

Improving fans’ experience

Jonathan Southward, commercial manager at Ashton Town FC, said partnering with TicketCo is making fans’ matchday experience far more efficient.

We’re pleased to partner with TicketCo and are already experiencing the benefits of cashless ticketing,” said Jonathan. “Digital ticketing helps simplify all aspects of the ticket office.

We’re able to delegate the time of our staff and volunteers elsewhere and we’re cutting down on queues outside Edge Green Street on a matchday. Furthermore, there is no additional cost to our supporters for buying tickets online via TicketCo.

This means we can encourage our fans to switch to digital which in turn allows us to immediately monitor and analyse funds that are coming into the club via our ticketing revenue streams.

Trusted provider

Ashton Town first discovered TicketCo’s cloud-based events payment platform when conducting localised market research.

It discovered fellow northern clubs Macclesfield Town, Bacup Borough, Newcastle Town, Altrincham FC and Radcliffe FC also provide its respective fanbases with digital ticketing.

Jonathan added: “We were extremely impressed with TicketCo’s list of clients. They are establishing themselves as the leading ticketing platform in non-league football and we want to be part of it.

We required a ticketing platform that was smooth, easy to use and simplistic for our supporters to buy into. TicketCo ticks all the boxes.

We’re an ambitious club and have our sights set on climbing the non-league ladder. Consequently, we’re investing time in forming strong partnerships across all aspects of the club. We look forward to working with TicketCo through this season and beyond.

Revolutionised ticketing

David Kenny, Head of Global Partnerships at TicketCo, added: “Simplistic and cost-effective cashless ticketing is transforming how semi-professional football teams sell tickets.

Ashton Town is already benefiting from going digital and are seeing how it can positively impact supporters’ matchday experience.

The club has strong ambitions to play at a higher level and everyone at TicketCo is excited to be part of the journey. We’d like to wish Ashton Town the best of luck for this season and we look forward to working with them.
