Prepare for a prolonged pandemic
How long will the pandemic last? According to the London-based science information and analytics company Airfinity, we are still far from the finishing line on the exhausting COVID-19 road towards normality.
UK will have to deal with high risk related to COVID-19 until April 2021, and the union will reach immunisation in July. For the European Union the high risk phase will last until May, and immunisation will then be reached in September. While USA is likely to leave the high risk phase in March and can look forward to immunisation at the end of June.
This forecast was made by the London-based science information and analytics company Airfinity at the end of 2020, and its day by day forecast illustrated by the data visualisation and storytelling studio Flourish can be viewed here.
Airfinity’s forecast sees AstraZeneka’s AZD1222 vaccine as the major UK contributor, while J&J’s Ad26.Cov2.S (Ad26COVS1) is seen as the major EU contributor with Pfizer/BioNTech’s BNT162b2 and the AstraZeneca vaccine following close behind as two other important resources.
In USA Modena’s mRNA-1273 is supposed to be the main contributor with AstraZeneka, Pfizer/BioNTech and J&J following close behind with more or less equal impact compared to each other.
