Prepare for a prolonged pandemic

by | Jan 6, 2021

How long will the pandemic last? According to the London-based science information and analytics company Airfinity, we are still far from the finishing line on the exhausting COVID-19 road towards normality.

UK will have to deal with high risk related to COVID-19 until April 2021, and the union will reach immunisation in July. For the European Union the high risk phase will last until May, and immunisation will then be reached in September. While USA is likely to leave the high risk phase in March and can look forward to immunisation at the end of June.

This forecast was made by the London-based science information and analytics company Airfinity at the end of 2020, and its day by day forecast illustrated by the data visualisation and storytelling studio Flourish can be viewed here.

Airfinity’s forecast sees AstraZeneka’s AZD1222 vaccine as the major UK contributor, while J&J’s Ad26.Cov2.S (Ad26COVS1) is seen as the major EU contributor with Pfizer/BioNTech’s BNT162b2 and the AstraZeneca vaccine following close behind as two other important resources.

In USA Modena’s mRNA-1273 is supposed to be the main contributor with AstraZeneka, Pfizer/BioNTech and J&J following close behind with more or less equal impact compared to each other.

Digital pay-per-view events

At TicketCo, we are sharing the hope that the entire world now has for the vaccination programme. At the same time we realise that the event industry is far from the finishing line of the pandemic. With normality six to nine months away in UK and Europe, we strongly advise the industry to consider digital pay-per-view events.

TicketCo is made by organisers for organisers, and the pandemic gave birth to TicketCo Media Service. Built upon the world class TicketCo payments platform with market leading technology powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), TicketCo Media Services enables unique monetising possibilities and offers a peerless one-stop-shop for virtual and physical tickets, goods or services.

TicketCo Media Services secures a friction-less customer journey within a well tested sales platform created with safety, user friendliness and simplicity as three major objectives.

It includes E-commerce tracking and business intelligence, country restrictions to control licencing and Digital Rights Management (DRM) for improved security.

And enables a branded shopper journey, localised content and localised payment methods.

The industry needs to adapt to a long term COVID-19 scenario and to facilitate for hybrid events with a mixture of a physical and a digital audience once this is an option. TicketCo Media Services is the only available service globally that can handle streaming, virtual ticket sales, and physical ticket sales within one single platform.

We’re just a few clicks away, and we’ll have you online within days.
