The Nutcracker provides the ‘best online experience’ via TicketCo Media Services after sensational live ballet performance
Viewers hailed Birmingham Royal Ballet’s live stream performance of The Nutcracker via TicketCo Media Services as the best online streaming experience they have had following Friday night’s blockbuster show.
Theatregoers across the globe tuned in in their thousands as Carlos Acosta CBE and his expert team of professional dancers and musicians successfully adapted their festive showpiece onto the small screen for a live performance that was later made available on-demand.
The developing COVID-19 pandemic meant this year’s jaw-dropping performance of The Nutcracker was the first to ever be held behind closed doors at Birmingham’s Repertory Theatre.
However, that did not stop national critics and viewers from praising the 90-minute show and TicketCo Media Services HD quality live streaming service. Viewers used TicketCo Media Services to purchase a ticket for the show before streaming the performance onto their digital devices.
Brum Hour’s Dave Massey said in his review of the show: “This online presentation comes with an introduction guide and behind the scenes interval to add a real format of theatre experience.”
A review on Small House Big Trips added: “Watching the performance live streamed on the TV had positives I wouldn’t have considered before. Camera close ups means you could see detail that you just cannot possibly see when sat in the theatre.”
One delighted viewer added on social media: “Thanks for a wonderful show last night. It looked and sounded fantastic on our TV using @TicketCoUK app.”
And: “That was brilliant. The best online experience I’ve ever had. Fantastic and congratulations to all involved.”
Easy to use technology
Paul James, Chief Commercial Officer at Birmingham Royal Ballet, said he was delighted with the response to The Nutcracker’s online performance.
“We were all extremely sad that COVID-19 restrictions meant we could not welcome members of the public through The Rep’s doors for this year’s show,” said Paul. “The response to our live stream performance has been excellent and we are delighted with those that are choosing to view the performance via TicketCo Media Services on-demand facility too.
“It’s been an unprecedented year for Birmingham Royal Ballet, but we have all been impressed with the capabilities of TicketCo Media Services’ simplistic technology.”
Joe Edwards, TicketCo Media Services Global Key Account Manager, added: “The Nutcracker is an essential part of the build up to Christmas in the city of Birmingham with the show recognised globally too. It would have been a huge shame if this year’s performance didn’t go ahead because of the pandemic.
“Everyone at TicketCo Media Services is therefore thrilled that we provided Birmingham Royal Ballet with a digital platform that enabled theatregoers across the world to tune into the show’s first ever virtual performance. We’d like to wish Birmingham Royal Ballet a Merry Christmas and hope viewers enjoyed the performance which is still available on demand.”
