Just the Tonic say cheers after up-selling ABK Beers for virtual event

by | May 14, 2020

TicketCo’s up-sell functionality and proactive approach to supporting clients helped Just the Tonic achieve additional revenue from its inaugural live stream pay per view event.

UK comedy club promoter Just The Tonic enjoyed double the volume of digital ticket sales than expected for its pilot online TV show ‘Working From Home’ at the weekend. And to cap off a successful opening show it generated further revenue thanks to TicketCo introducing a collaboration with ROKiT Drinks, which resulted in ABK premium beers sold as an up-sell.

Up-sell at the point of sale

A unique feature on the TicketCo event payment platform is our up-sell option. It is designed to help organisers generate additional revenue in advance of an event.

Just the Tonic used the up-sell function to offer its ticket buyers the opportunity to have ABK beers delivered to their home, next day to enjoy with the show. And it proved to be popular with 56% of ticket buyers during the 1 day promotion taking advantage of the offer leading to 1,420 beer purchased, then delivered .

“The ticket sales were strong for our first online live show and the up-sell revenue was a great additional bonus,” said Darrell Martin. “TicketCo’s tech and proactive approach really helped make our first online streaming event a real success.”

Generating revenue during lock down

TicketCo Media Services is proving popular with the events industry as organisers seek new ways to engage and generate income during this difficult era. Combining this with up-selling creates even stronger commercial results.

Adding up-sell options to events is a proven way to increase revenue and profitability. Many organisers use this option to sell merchandise, from clothing to refreshments. Traditionally organisers often use our up-sell function to enable ticket buyers to pre-order drinks to avoid queues at an event. So, with Just The Tonic’s virtual event we created the opportunity for drinks to be delivered to ticket buyers’ homes to complete their event experience.

“Up-selling is an excellent feature on our platform,” said TicketCo UK Country Manager David Kenny. “The Just the Tonic event showcases that when you combine quality artists with great tech, marketing and proactive partnerships you can be successful even in the toughest circumstances.”

Relationship based

Ahead of Just the Tonic’s first live pay-per-view show using our TicketCo Media Services service our UK Country Manager David Kenny formed a partnership between TicketCo and ROKiT Drinks. Just the Tonic was the first TicketCo client to benefit from the exciting partnership.

“This partnership is based on a shared passion for innovation,” said Mr Kenny. “It enables us to offer further incredible value to our organisers by providing the opportunity to add a premium quality drinks partner to their event and help drive commercial sales.”

About us

At TicketCo we have built our business on providing an easy to use digital platform for event organisers, artists, and venues to sell tickets and market their events. We have always been at the forefront of developing our own technology to adapt and provide a service and platform that is relevant in the digital age.

When lockdown hit the industry the team at TicketCo soon realised it was an opportunity and the company invested in R&D to develop and launch TicketCo Media Services, a new pay per view live streaming and video on demand service. It is combined with our ticketing platform so organisers and artists can monetise digital content and events.
