In 53 years, Oxford Round Table has never welcomed more visitors or raised as much money for charity at its annual fireworks display than in 2021.

The community driven organisation is responsible for Oxford’s biggest fireworks display and partnered with TicketCo to provide visitors with an easy-to-use, cashless, digital ticketing solution.

This partnership led to record-breaking pre-event sales and helped Oxford Round Table pledge more money to charity than ever before thanks to unrivalled ticketing fees.

Working with TicketCo

Oxford Roundtable wanted to provide visitors to its annual fireworks display with a one-stop shop for all online sales.

It led to a partnership with TicketCo, meaning customers could purchase tickets wherever and whenever they wished either online or via a mobile app. They were sent a downloadable QR code which was scanned by stewards at entry points.

The functionality led to:

  • 22,000 tickets being sold in advance of the event
  • The highest attended Oxford Round Table fireworks event in its 53-year history
  • Fast processing of queues to enter the event
  • The most money raised for charity

Offline scanning

Relying on cellular data to scan digital tickets was not an option for Oxford Round Table due to frequent internet outages caused by the event’s high attendance.

TicketCo’s cloud-based technology works both online and offline, meaning visitors can be scanned into venues even when cellular data is lost. This was a significant feature.

Joseph said: “Because we had more than 20,000 people on site, all our cellular service switched off. It means scanners need to work offline, which is a feature of TicketCo.

“If we lost the internet, we could still let people in. Offline capability was the most important feature to us. We need to guarantee the ability to scan tickets with or without the internet and that is what we had.”

Unrivalled ticketing fees

As a charity event, every bit of revenue obtained from Oxford Round Table’s fireworks night is essential.

By unlocking our ultra-low ticketing fees, Oxford Round Table saved an estimated £10,000 which was pledged to local good causes.
